THE LOST HEIRESS

Theodore courted me for half a year.

I felt his performance was excellent, so I made him official.

Later, we dated for two years before the two families started discussing marriage.

On the day of the engagement, I saw his long-unused social media account.

August 2, 2020.

He posted:

[This young master saved another person today, I’m really awesome hahahaha.]

A perfectly arrogant high school boy tone.

The location was at that reservoir.

My heart almost skipped a beat.

I took the post to Theodore and asked:

“You were the one who saved me, right?”

“Oh, yeah.”

He was extremely calm, as if it was just a very small matter.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I remember, when I exposed Vincent, you already knew about my drowning incident…”

Theodore replied:

“Saving someone was just a passing effort, I didn’t take it to heart, and I never told anyone. Later when I found out the person I saved was you, I couldn’t say it even more.”

“Why??”

“At that time I was courting you, I didn’t want to emotionally blackmail you with this matter, it would be unfair to you.”

I was stunned.

Speechless for a long time.

His height was similar to Vincent’s.

Their builds were both thin and tall.

The key was, their swimming postures were of the same type.

So when I first saw Vincent, I made a mistake.

It turned out that person.

Had always been by my side.

Theodore wrapped me in his arms, rubbing against me affectionately.

“Daphne, promise me one thing, okay?”

“What?”

“Don’t be grateful to me.”

“…”

“I just want you to love me, purely love me.”

He gently bit my earlobe, then my cheek, my lips.

His hot breath fell on my skin.

I couldn’t help but think of my gloomy, hopeless eighteenth year.

That figure jumping into the water.

Bringing me the hope of survival.

Living, indeed, good things will happen.

Until the very end, I couldn’t say those words of thanks.

Under the bright moonlight, I leaned into Theodore’s ear.

And said softly:

“I love you.”
