My Fiancé and My Nemesis Swapped Souls

I have two childhood friends; one is my fiancé, and the other is my sworn nemesis.

On the eve of my wedding, for some unknown reason, the two of them got into a fight, both ended up in the hospital, and after waking up, their souls had swapped.

Me: “…So who exactly am I going to marry in the end?”

My nemesis Gabriel: “I can reluctantly marry you in his place for a bit.”

My fiancé Sylvester’s face darkened, but unusually, he didn’t voice any objections.

When I rushed to the hospital and pushed open the ward door, I was immediately hugged from behind by someone.

“Little Olivia, you’re finally here, I missed you to death, give me a kiss~”

Hearing this frivolous and indecent tone, I didn’t even need to look at the person to skillfully throw a punch backwards.

“Gabriel, do you have a death wish? Whose advantage are you trying to take?”

As soon as I finished speaking, I met Sylvester’s surprised eyes: “How did you know it was me?”

I froze for a moment; how could it be Sylvester?

In less than a second, he resumed his frivolous demeanor: “Calling out another man’s name right in front of your fiancé, what’s wrong, do you have a secret crush on Gabriel?”

I frowned; was Sylvester’s brain damaged from the beating? Why did his personality suddenly become exactly like… Gabriel’s?

Speak of the devil and he shall appear; just as I was wondering, my nemesis – Gabriel – walked in.

The guy who usually always wore a playful expression was now unusually serious and composed.

His face darkened as he looked at Sylvester: “Don’t tease her.”

Then he turned to look at me: “Olivia, I am the real Sylvester.”

I was completely stunned. What on earth was going on?

It took me more than an hour to listen to their explanation, only then did I learn that they had previously fought, ended up in the hospital, and after waking up, their souls had swapped.

“…” It was so absurd. How could such a bizarre thing happen?

Gabriel looked at me in disbelief: “You actually believe this? Before you, my mom and his dad also came, but neither of them believed it.”

“Why wouldn’t I believe it? He would never do anything impulsive.”

“Never do anything impulsive?”

He sneered, glancing at Sylvester next to him with a meaningful look.

Sylvester lowered his head, maintaining an unusual silence.

I didn’t care about the strange exchange of glances between them; I only had a headache over one thing.

“The wedding is the day after tomorrow… So who exactly am I going to marry?”

The marriage between me and Sylvester was essentially a commercial union; it wasn’t something that could be canceled just because we wanted to.

“I can reluctantly take his place and marry you for a bit.”

“No way!” Sylvester’s face turned pitch black.

“Are you saying no because you don’t want me to marry her, or because you don’t want to get married?”

Sylvester frowned again.

I felt a bit strange. Although Gabriel’s words were never pleasant to hear, why did every single sentence he said today feel like it had a hidden meaning?

After some discussion, Sylvester finally made a decision —— to hide temporarily and wait until we found a way to swap back before deciding anything else.

After all, canceling the engagement for no reason would definitely not be approved by both families, but if we stated the real reason, we would likely be dragged to see a psychiatrist.

Fortunately, Gabriel was an architect and had many private villas under his name, so randomly finding one to lay low and avoid the storm was not a problem at all.

It was my first time stepping into Gabriel’s private space. I originally thought he would have a flashy and tacky aesthetic, but unexpectedly upon arriving, I realized that every interior design choice in his house perfectly matched my preferences.

He even planted my favorite flowers in the yard.

“Do you like it?”

Gabriel crossed his arms, leaning against the doorframe, smiling as he looked at me squatting in the garden.

My mouth twitched, and I stood up saying, “I couldn’t tell you were this secretly sentimental.”

He raised an eyebrow: “At least I show it openly; some people hide it in a terrifyingly secretive way.”

He was truly acting very strangely today. I followed his gaze and happened to see Sylvester walking down from the second floor; Sylvester’s expression was not very good.

From the moment he knew we were going to hide out here, he had been very dissatisfied and kept wanting to change places. However, Gabriel’s personality was always one to provoke people; the more you didn’t want something, the more he liked to force it.

“Why did you guys fight in the first place?”

“Go ask your fiancé.”

I turned to look at Sylvester. He turned his face away, avoiding my eyes: “It was just a small misunderstanding, it’s been resolved.”

“Are you sure… it’s been resolved?”

Gabriel made another strange remark. Sylvester’s face darkened, and just as he was about to say something, the doorbell rang.

I was startled: “They found us this quickly?”

Gabriel calmly went to open the door, and the person standing outside was my college friend, Hazel.

“I just saw the three of you coming in here and thought I was seeing things.”

“You live here?”

This was a wealthy neighborhood. Hazel came from an ordinary family and was a newcomer in the entertainment industry. Last year, she was even mocked for wearing knock-off clothes on a show. How did she suddenly have so much money?

“…I just bought a place here.”

Hazel answered looking a bit flustered, then seemingly unintentionally glanced at Gabriel, who was wearing Sylvester’s face and standing next to her.

“Aren’t you two getting married tomorrow? Why did you run over here at this time?”

“We’re not getting married anymore.” Gabriel interrupted coldly.

Hazel almost blurted out: “Really?”

A flash of joy seemed to cross her face, but realizing something, she hastily held back.

“Why aren’t you getting married anymore? Is it because of…”

“Miss Hazel, we still have things to discuss. If you don’t have any business here, please go back first.”

Sylvester, who had been silent until now, suddenly interrupted her rudely and bluntly kicked her out.

Hazel’s face looked unpleasant as she turned to look at Gabriel in Sylvester’s body.

Uncharacteristically putting on Sylvester’s usual demeanor, Gabriel smiled gently: “Hazel, you should head back first.”

This “Hazel” successfully soothed her emotions; her face flushed pink, and she quickly left.

I felt a subtle ripple in my heart; something felt very strange…

“First, let’s figure out how to swap back.”

Sylvester interrupted my thoughts.

Gabriel closed the door: “Don’t worry, I’ve consulted an expert.”

He walked up to me and was just about to put his arm around my shoulder when Sylvester pushed him away: “Don’t get handsy.”

Sylvester grabbed my wrist, pulling me towards him: “If you have a method, speak quickly.”

Gabriel raised an eyebrow, a teasing look in his eyes.

I stayed silent for a moment, and while they were talking, I smoothly pulled my hand out of Sylvester’s grip.

Although Sylvester and I had been engaged since childhood, until now, we had always maintained a sibling-like, friendly relationship.

Even in college, when we naturally started dating under everyone’s expectations and our friends’ matchmaking, he never displayed such a strong possessiveness over me.

What was wrong with him lately?

That night, the two of them tried all sorts of methods—electric shocks, high-speed spinning, intense exercise… they tried them all.

But they were half-dead, and their souls still hadn’t swapped back.

I looked at Gabriel in disgust: “This is the expert you said you consulted?”

Gabriel panted: “…This kind of thing requires the right time, place, and people. The conditions aren’t right today, we’ll try again tomorrow.”

However, the next day, the two continued their experiments, and the results were still useless.

And unsurprisingly, both my phone and Sylvester’s were blown up with calls.

But none of us dared to pick up.

The three of us sat in the living room staring at each other.
